SPORT PERFORMANCE

WHAT MAKES A CHAMPION?

Champions know how to quiet their mind and focus on their task at hand. They have the mental habits and skills that allow them to thrive under pressure. Self-awareness is a critical skill for every athlete.

The Tonia Anderson Psychology team helps clients gain understanding in the connection between their experiences, thoughts, feelings and actions, and identify what roadblocks are getting in the way of getting the results they desire. They work with clients to create training and competition routines that lay the groundwork for success and allow athletes to reach their potential.

Performance anxiety and dealing with distractions in and out of competition are two of the biggest challenges athletes face. Mounting expectations, fear of failure, and juggling demands clutter the mind and affect an athlete’s ability to focus.

Knowing how to use your strengths, personality styles, tendencies, and even your fears to your advantage can make all the difference on game day. Just because a routine works for someone else, does not mean it is right for you. Customization is key.
